Málaga, the beauty

Málaga is a province of the autonomous community of Andalucía.

It is located to the south and is bathed by the Mediterranean Sea. Adjacent by the coast: Cádiz and Granada.

It is said that it is one of the best cities to live in, as its climate is mild in summer and winter. Of 365 days in a year, about 350 are sunny, reason why it is very common to find people having a snack in summer clothes on the terraces and beach bars of Málaga. That is why it is called the "Costa del Sol" (coust of the sun).

In Málaga, in addition to having great temperatures and practically sun all the year, it has many other qualities:

The gastronomy, with its typical skewers of sardines, fried fish,….it has other traditional foods such as "ajo blanco" (chilled garlic and almond soup), rice in broth, stews with the vegetables that this fertile land gives, ajoblanco soup, etc...

We cannot forget one of the best chefs with three Michelin stars, Dani García, who has his restaurant in Marbella, where you can taste traditional recipes of modern cuisine. Quite an experience.

In Málaga you can choose between beachfront beach bars called "chiringuitos", "ventas"(hostelry) in the mountain villages, international food restaurants (Chinese, Japanese, Italian, German, Irish, Swiss, English, Thai...), menu restaurants, typical Spanish , for "tapas" (Spanish style apetizers) with some beers, traditional food, modern…. There is variety and quality.

The beaches of Málaga are some of the best maintained of all Spain. We like them to be clean and to be comfortable with what is ours. Some of these beaches are almost wild, that means that there is no nice promenade just before arriving, no shops, no restaurants, so you have to go through vegetation and sand.

Other beaches are more touristy, you can find beach bars, shops, etc… very close.

With the good weather we have, we can enjoy them almost all year round. It is not uncommon to see tourists on the beach having sun in the winter months. All a pleasure.

There are many schools that do water activities, such as diving, surfing, windsurfing.

Now we are going to talk about the inside of the province with those beautiful mountain towns. The houses of no more than 2 floors, quiet people, surrounded by fields and vegetation. Where you can make excursions on foot or on horseback and enjoy the landscape. There are many trails to walk. Frigiliana, Competa, Nerja, Mijas, Ronda, Antequera, Alora are some of the towns you can visit, it will be worth it.

Culturally, we have museums such as the very prestigious Thyssen, Pompidou, Picasso,...

Throughout Spain there are churches and cathedrals to visit and Málaga is no exception. The Cathedral of Málaga (in the centre of the city), Church of Santiago Apóstol, Church of San Juan Bautista, Church of San Antonio de Padua (at Ronda), Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación (at Alora), Santa María de la Encarnación (at Vélez-Málaga), etc…

Strolling through the city of Málaga we can find museums, churches, the cathedral, the winery/bar "Bodega del Pimpi", the fort "La Alcazaba", the Roman Theater, the Café at passage Chinitas, the square "Plaza de la Merced", the Atarazanas Market, the castle "El Gibralfaro" with wonderful views of Málaga and the new pier "Muelle 1" with bars and restaurants in the same port. All these typical sites that cannot be missed and many other places and corners to find.
